History

Originally based in Ramsgate, Kent, Hi-Way Services became an incorporated company in 1990. Operating 5 screed crews, 1 paint crew and 1 machine crew, Hi-Way Service worked closely with local authorities, together with a broad range of private clients, including major supermarket chains. We also worked alongside much larger contractors, observing their practices, and aspiring to become like them.

In 2004 we purchased a road marking and cats eye milling company in West Sussex. We have since combined this company into Hi-Way Services (October 2006).

By the middle of 2005, the major expansion of client base and increase in man-power and equipment meant relocation was necessary. In the summer of 2006 we moved premises to Lakesview International Business Park, Hersden. Where we operated 7 screed crews, 2 machine crews, an anti-skid crew and a paint crew. We have become the largest road marking contractor in the South East of England and carry out work not only all over the UK but also worldwide – including work in Kenya!

Not only has the on-the-road work force significantly increased, we also have a team of surveyors who undertake to visit sites within 48-hours of enquiry, meaning the timescale between initial contact and job scheduling is second to none.

In October 2008 we launched our online store, meaning that our ever expanding company not only provides an outstanding road marking service but also can supply equipment and products such as paint, studs, etc. to our clients at very competitive prices.

The online store has since gone from strength to strength, and since becoming an official distributor for Instarmac our sales have increased beyond all of our expectations.  Ultracrete permanent pothole repair is our top-selling product, with pre-formed thermoplastic lines following closely in 2nd place.

In late 2012 we launched our Traffic Management division and in the summer of 2013 BSI extended our ISO 9001:2008 scope to include installing, maintaining and removing temporary traffic management / static traffic management in accordance with National Highway Sector Scheme 12A/B and D

As of 2014 the company has expanded further, from our Kent depot we now operate 2 machine crews, 2 anti-skid crews, 8 screed crews and 1 paint crew when required, from our Sussex depot we now operate 5 screed crews, 2 cats eye milling crews and 1 machine crew. We have also increased our services portfolio with MMA HFS & Lining and Crack Infill repair.

Since this expansion, which has proved incredibly successful, our focus has been on training and environmental awareness.   We achieved ISO 14001:2004 in June 2014 and are keen to continue to improve and expand in the future.
